The automobile insurance requirements in Kentucky are slightly different than most states. Residents are required by law to purchase a policy which has certain amounts of liability coverage, yet are given the choice of legally rejecting any Personal Injury Protection (PIP) by filling out a form and giving it to the state Department of Insurance. Although this additional coverage is optional, all Kentuckians are strongly encouraged to search for a policy that is as extensive as possible. One of the easiest places to begin is by comparison shopping. This method involves obtaining quotes from as many different insurers as possible and choosing the most appropriate policy that offers adequate protection and is competitively priced. Doing so often amounts to better priced and more thorough coverage.
