I have a speeding ticket that was issued back in 2002 and am wondering if this will have any bearing on auto insurance when I purchase a new policy in the near future.

No. Insurance companies usually go back 3 years for violations. However, be sure to disclose it on the application if they ask…they’ll find it anyway.

No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.
Good starting point is at this site.

I don’t know if this applies where you live, but in Michigan, points on our licenses are there for two years. After that, there is no record.

Most states allow insurance companies to see three years back on your license. If there are alcohol related offenses, that extends to ten yrs back. Employers get to see five yrs back.

generally in most states tickets are held on license and insurance for 3 years. After 3 years and no other infractions they drop off.

WHY DON’T YOU JUST CALL YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
